Chapter 32

I. '^Eph. i. 11, In whom also

we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worket]\ all things after the counsel of lais own will. Rom. xi. 33. O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God ! how un- aearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out! Heb. vi. 17. "Wherein God, willing more abun- dantly to shew unto the heirs of pro- mise the immutability of his counsel, confirmed it by an oath. Rom. ix. 15. For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and 1 will have compassion on whom I will have compassion. Ver. 18. Therefore hath he mercy on whom he will have mercy, and whom he will he hardeneth.
t> James i. 13. Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempt- ed of God: for God cannot be tempt- ed with evil, neither tempteth he any man. Ver. 17. Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. ! John i, 5. This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in hira is no dark- ness at all.

The lot is cast into the lap ; but the whole disposuig thereof is of the I^ord.
