t 1 John iv. 8. He that loveth not, knoweth not God, for God is love. Ver. 16'. And we have known and believed the love that God hath to U8. God is love ; and he that dwelleth in love, dwelleth in God, ipliid God in him.

and gracious, long- suffering, and
abundant in goodness and truth.
Ver. 7. Keeping mercy for thousands,
forgiving iniquity, and transgression,
and sin, and that will by no means
.clear the guilty ; visiting the iniquity
of the fathers upon the children, and
upon the children's children, unto the
., third and to the fourth generation.
* Heb. xi. 6. But without faith it is impossible to please him; for he that comcth to God must be- lieve that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
