Chapter 177
VI. Although true believers be not under the law as a
covenant of works, to be thereby justified or condemned ^ ; yet is it of great use to them, as well as to others ; in that, as a rule of life, informing them of the will of God and their duty, it directs and binds them to walk accordingly "" ; dis- covering also the sinful pollutions of their nature, hearts, and lives " ; so as, examining themselves thereby, they may

Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be ful- filled. Ver. ]9. Whosoever there- fore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven : but who- Boever shall do aftd teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
