Here is a most significant legend of fear:
The traveler met the Black Plague on the way to Bagdad. “Where are you going?” he asked. ‘“T’o Bagdad, to slay five thousand,” replied Plague.
Weeks later, the traveler met the Black Plague returning and greeted it:
“You said you were going to kill only five thousand, but I am told fifty thousand died.”
“T slew only five thousand,” replied Plague; “the other forty-five thousand perished from fear.”
It is fear that shackles the natural processes of man, that retards his progress; it is fear that induces the Neophyte to retrace his steps, that causes him to fail and die.

As Dou Travel the Path
HAT more can we tell you—what do you wish to know of what lies ahead of those who seek the Path to Power? ‘The Secrets which we teach cannot, of course, be publicly broadcast. This much, however, can be told:
Declaring that true manhood is more or less en rapport with one or more of the Upper or Invisible Hierarchies of Intelligent .Potentialities, earth-born and not earth-born, we believe that there are means whereby a person may become associated with and receive instructions from them.
More than that, that it is possible to develop so that the Soul will emit a peculiar Light, discernible across the gulfs of space by these intellectual powers, just as we discern a diamond from far off. We believe that such are signals to the beholders, and they then will, and do, cross chasmal reaches to save, succor and assist the Initiate, just as a brother here flies to the relief of him who shall give the grand hailing signal of distress.
The Atth Mystery of Will
Tuis is provable. This 72th Mystery of the Will, properly cultivated, and as the Order teaches it, is the highest aid to man. It is the miracle-work- ing potentiality which comes only to the free and unshackled human soul. While to women, it is the only salvation from vampirism and slavery. It is the shield and buckler of her power, and the groundwork upon which must be builded the real rule of her influence in the world and at home.
The Rosicrucian Brotherhood claims that it alone has the true knowledge of the latent energies of Celestial Fire; that we understand the laws of Love, Will, and Aéthereal force and the principles and modes of their evolution or development; that we understand crystallization, the result aimed at being the elimination of the gross, and their orderly consolidation into Personal Power. !

Other SECRETS WE TEACH
Tue Law of Thought is the first law that is taught to the student. The second law, and the basis of the Highest Soul Powers, even in true White | Magic, is Image Formation, for without this nothing can be accomplished. 7 After this comes the Vivification of the Image, or giving life to that which | the Magic Will has created. | ‘
Then, we must understand the Law of Image Projection, or the sendin forth of the powerful Will-Child, the accomplishment of things desired. All these things are accomplished in the Chamber of Silence.
A Master (of the Rosicrucian Fraternity) once wrote: “Nature is filled with influences and beings, all responsive to the will of mankind, when he shall learn how they may be reached and commanded. By whatever means, however, that we invoke the powers of Nature, it is always accomplished by our Soul Power of creating Forms, aided by the developed will in projecting these into Being.”
This quotation, short though it is, gives an insight into the remarkable power. of a Master. All these Laws are taught, and have been taught for hundreds of years, by the Rosicrucian Fraternity and A®th Priesthood. Furthermore, all the Laws concerning the Development of Soul—and the Formation, Vivi- | fication, Commanding and Directing of these Powers are fully taught to the student in the course of his training. j
The Brotherhood once said: ““We admit, and triumphantly, that we believe in the ‘Elixir of Life’ and that the human stay on sae can be prolonged a great deal beyond the storied three score and ten.” ‘The student is fully taught concerning the Vitalizing process which permits this. |

Its Arcane work, or the “Chamber of the Winds,” the Great Breath Mys- tery is fully taught to the student, so that he will have a sure foundation upon which to work. ‘This in itself leads to the formation of the greater AXth, which gives man the Creating Power.

Can you take the path—can you hope for a successful journey along the Path? YES, athousand times yes! If you have the will to start, the will to continue, the determination to “keep everlastingly at it,” you can become a Rosicrucian—a Master of Power.
Environments—the surroundings and habits of our daily lives—are the chains that hold man to earth and all that is of the other. But the time comes, AS IT HAS COME TO YOU NOW, when, truly to live and not merely to exist, you must make the break from undesirable or retarding associations and seek for more suitable and more elevating spiritual and mental surroundings.
You must be willing to have full trust in the Law, forsaking the old; you must be ready and willing to begin life anew, blazing a new trail, a different “path from the former. This new way, if followed faithfully and under- standingly, will lead to success.
It is within the province of this Fraternity to instruct all who seek to be taught how to master material conditions to begin with; then how to over- come, to gain freedom from the environments that bind the student to virtual slavery.

The Privilege of ENROLLMENT in the Original
Rosicrucian Fraternity | is YOURS for a Limited Period Only
OST BEGINNERS, we find, prefer to enroll as Neophytes in the Fra-
ternity. In this grade the student, or Neophyte, receives, by mail, ap- proximately two Lessons a month dealing with the Rosicrucian — i Philosophy and the Arcane System of Development and training—as partially outlined in this booklet—and as employed by the Fraternity during the past — four centuries. 1

‘The system of study and training followed in these Lessons remains almost identical with that which has been followed since the first days of the founda- tion of the Fraternity. In the very beginning it was found that the isolated © ‘ student could make greater progress than was possible in group study. ;

Because of this, the instructions (and these Lessons) were prepared in such manner that it is easy for the Neophyte to study, to understand and to actu- ally practice what they teach; 7. e., live in such manner as to become that which he is taught in the Lessons.
Lessons are PERSONAL | ;
Ir 1s NoT to be understood that these lessons are such as might be practical in a book or similar publication. The Laws taught are, of course, fundamental. and in a sense applicable to all people with similar desires, but the distinction lies here: each lesson contains a system of practice or development, and be- cause each person is a law to himself (or herself) the lessons are adapted to the individual, and thus become immediately personal.
These instructions are to be carefully studied and faithfully practiced, as itt
is only through practice that the Neophyte will be able to grow toward his Goal either physically, mentally, materially, or spiritually.
Individual Help
IN Most instances these Lessons are so complete and detailed that little corre-

spondence is necessary, but wherever there is need of additional instructions or guidance, the Neophyte is at liberty to write to Headquarters and to receive additional help.
Many Neophytes are in immediate need of specific help of one kind or another, such as instructions for the gaining of health, the at- tainment of a special goal, success in business and other affairs of life. “These are priviléged to write to Headquarters, and will receive help from someone connected with the Great Work who is fully qualified to offer such services.
There is no extra charge for this unless the problem must be placed before some specialist who is not connected with the Fraternity and its Work, and this is never done without first consulting with the one seeking assistance.
How Much Time?
THE question is frequently asked: Must a certain amount of time be devoted to the study and practice of this Work? ‘The answer to this is no.
However, as in all else in life, progress depends upon the time and effort devoted to the Work. The student who really is in love with the Work will naturally seek to find time to devote to it.
If the student will devote but thirty minutes on concentrated study and practice, preferably in the evening, then ultimate success is assured him. Surely any one sincere in his search for so great a treasure can find that much time out of every twenty-four hours.
How to Enroll
THOSE wishing to enroll as Neophytes must first fill out the Application- Obligation blank, and return to the Fraternity with the Enrollment Fee of $3.25. Your application will be examined and, if found satisfactory, you will be enrolled at once and instructions and Lessons will begin to issue. (If for any reason your application is not found satisfactory, your Enrollment Fee will be returned to you.)
Dues
THEREAFTER the dues to be paid are $1.75 a month as long as the Neophyte continues with the School and under training. ‘The exact time required to pass

through the Neophyte stage varies so greatly with individuals that no definite time limit can be set. Also, those who attain to Mastership usually continue with the Fraternity indefinitely, as they might continue their membership in any other society—since they find in the Rose Cross an everlasting course of complete life.
Payment NOT for Instruction
Ir 1s to be clearly understood that monies remitted to the Fraternity are in — no sense payment for instructions. Wisdom cannot be bought, whether by — outright payment or monthly stipends. Such money is used for the sole and legitimate purpose of covering actual expenses of operation; cost of paper, — postage, printing, multigraphing and the multitudinous other necessities in a work of this nature.
It is, finally, to be remembered that all monies paid are under the Mystical — or Occult Law of Exchange, all Laws of God and Nature demanding that — for whatever we receive we must give.

HE ever-present dream of every true Occult student and seeker after
J Initiation is to hold a Life Scholarship with all its rights and privi-
leges. This is something truly worth striving for, a present to one-
self which will return untold benefits during all of life respecting the three-fold being of body, mind and Soul, as also after the change called death, due to the connections made with the Hierarchies or White Brotherhood during life.
‘Such a Scholarship includes the entire course of instructions as given by the Rosicrucian Fraternity, the training which is part of Imperial Eulis, and, lastly, complete instructions in the Higher Occult. Nor is this all. After certain phases of the training have been completed, then Occult manuscripts unknown to any but the Initiate-Masters are open to such students. IRRESPECTIVE of the plan under which the student enrolls he is at no time compelled to buy books. Certain books are offered from time to time, but failure to get them does not in any way affect his standing as a student.
Lodges and Circles
You May be acquainted with one or more of those who are already enrolled with the Fraternity; on the other hand, it is easily possible that there is a Temple or Circle actively working within walking distance from your dwell- ing place and yet wholly unknown to you or to anyone else not a member of the Fraternity.
Some of the most powerful Centers, Temples and Members are altogether unknown to any but the officers of the Fraternity, because it is their desire
