Chapter 19

PART II

ESCHATOLOGY OF THE HU- MAN RACE
Parallel with the consummation of the individ- ual runs the consummation of the human race, which will take place as soon as the predestined number of men is reached.
When "the last day" 1 will come no one can tell. All calculations and speculations from St. Augus- tine to the present have merely confirmed our Blessed Saviour's dictum that God alone knows the day and the hour when the Son of man will come to judge the living and the dead. 2
Following St. Augustine's example 8 we shall consider, (i) the Signs that are to Precede the General Judgment, (2) the Resurrection of the Flesh, and (3) the Last Judgment.
