252 BIBLIOGRAPHY OF CHEMISTRY.
Wagner, Rudolf. See Strecker, Adolph, also Scherer, Johann Joseph von.
Waite, Arthur Edward.
* Lives of Alchemystical Philosophers based on materials collected in
1815 and supplemented by recent researches. With a philosophical demonstration of the true principles of the magnum opus or great work of alchemical reconstruction and some account of the spiritual chemistry. To which is added a bibliography of alchemy and hermetic philosophy. London, 1888. pp. 1-3 15, 8vo,
The author uses the material in an anonymous work of the same title usually attributed to Francis Barrett, re-writes the sections, and adds considera- ble matter of his own. He omits, however, the excerpts from alchemical authors. The bibliography is disappointing, being meagre in details and little more than a reprint of Barrett's one-line titles augmented by titles from Lenglet du Fresnoy, without verification of the data.
