This author has adopted the atrocious plan of translating into French the titles of works written in English, German, and other languages, but without stating the fact ; thus his work becomes a snare instead of a help to bibliographers and students of biography. Priestley is said to have made numerous discoveries, but no mention is made of oxygen ; and " his independent character and religious opinions obliged him to retire to America," no mention being made of the terrible Birmingham riots of July, 1791 !
