The first extensive catalogue of chemical books, but unsatisfactory from the
standpoint of modern bibliography. To hundreds of names are
attached the words " chimicus author," or " chimise scriptor," with no
further data.

A wonderfully laborious and exhaustive compilation, replete with minutest details concerning the literature of medicine and natural science. Chemistry proper, though not included in the title of the' book, receives its full quota of attention. The author sacrificed a fortune in compil- ing and publishing these numerous and closely printed volumes.

Vol. I contains sections on bibliography of medical science, on the history, and on the biography. Vol. 11 contains sections on spagyric, hermetic, alchemical, and chemical medicine, as well as a section on the history of pharmacy. In all of these much material pertaining to the history and bibliography of chemistry will be found.
